Mahwah covers about 26 square miles, more than any other municipality in Bergen County, and about 25,500 people live here. The Ramapo River runs through the western part of town, the Ramapo Mountains are close by, and Campgaw Mountain Reservation, which spans 1,351 acres, lies partly in Mahwah.
The township was formed as Hohokus Township in 1849 and took the name Mahwah in 1944. Ford ran an assembly plant here from 1955 until 1980.
With that much land and terrain that changes from one lot to the next, a custom home here starts with the site. We walk the lot before we design anything: how it slopes, where the house can sit, what has to be cleared and what has to be graded.
